Decided to do a quick Elly set + a story cause it's been ages since I've wrote for her.
---
It was still difficult to be around him, she contemplated as she sat in front of her dressing mirror, brushing her hair. Difficult, even after they were married and their children took on the name of 'Weasley'. She still wondered what it would be like to have married Cato, the strong brute who was so gentle with her children. The marriage would probably be more easier than the one she was currently in, but she was too selfish to let Louis go. She loved him, even though it was difficult to do so. And the children loved him, Cassius a little more so than Tahnee. But she wasn't too worried about her little girl. Louis would weasel his way into her heart, and Tahnee would forget that he even left and everything would be perfect.
Or so she hoped.
The first few weeks of marriage was hell. It was different with a wedding band around her ring finger. It made things more real, she had married him and she needed to stick with him forever now. No running away to Cato's house in the middle of the night when things got difficult, even if she wanted to. No, they had to sit down and talk things out now. Like adults.
Her brush got caught in one of the many knots of her thick mane of brown hair, and she winced slightly, her eyes squeezing shut, as she brushed through it, her thoughts momentarily interrupted. "Good morning." One blue eye open to stare at the man standing by the doorway of their room through the mirror, his arms folded across his chest. "Morning." She knew he was awake already. He always was, always before she opened her eyes, the scent of cigarette smoke and mint toothpaste being the only thing left of him in the room. Louis walked over and rested his hands on her shoulders, giving them a gentle squeeze.
The mornings were the best. The children were still asleep, and in a blurred haze she could still pretend that things were alright. A small sleepy smile stretched across her lips as he bent down to kiss her shoulder, resting his cheek against her hair. A soft murmur of 'I love you' makes her remember exactly why she's still with him, even though it hurts to see him walk out the door, always filling her with fear because all she can think of is that he was walking away. "I love you too." And suddenly her eyes fill with tears and it's embarrassing because she prides herself in being the strong one. Emotions don't get to her that easily. She turned her head to the side, not wanting him to see the glassy look in her eyes, but of course, he already noticed, and is kneeling down in front of her, his hands taking the brush from which is squeezed so tightly between her fingers.
The sudden rush of blood to her hand feels like ant bites, and she is grateful for the pain.
"I'm sorry."
It was something he did often; apologize. When she gets angry with the smallest things, he doesn't fight back. It's still difficult for her to accept that she's taken him back, even after vowing over and over again, to never let him back in. It's not him she's angry with. It's herself, and somehow, he knows. So he takes her hands, and whispers 'I'm sorry'. And everything works out. Because even though the hugs she gives him when he returns from work is more of a 'you came back, i can't believe it' hug, and even though he still watches Cato closely (the way his hand sometimes grazes the exposed skin on her hip), it works out.
